Our Pastor

Pastor Derrick S. Monk, Sr. is the senior pastor of Divine Covenant Outreach Center, a non-denominational church serving the Philadelphia area. With over 25 years as a licensed and ordained minister, he is deeply committed to evangelism and community service.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Derrick has been a union representative for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW), Local Lodge 1776 (now the Obie O’Brien Lodge), since 2007. His union journey began as a shop steward, and in 2014, he was elected Grievance Committeeman for USAirways, now American Airlines. He also leads the lodge’s Community Service Committee, providing critical support to members in need and offering comfort during times of bereavement. In 2011, Pastor Derrick founded the Solid Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting union members and their families through scholarships and financial assistance during challenging times.

Pastor Derrick married his high school sweetheart, Tamika, in 1991. Together, they are the proud parents of Brianna and Derrick Jr. His dedication to service extends beyond his church and union work. As the Community Service Chair for the Philadelphia AFL-CIO, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives, earning the prestigious Irv Sannit Award in 2017 for his outstanding community activism.

Pastor Derrick is a compassionate and prayerful leader, guided by his deep faith and unwavering commitment to serving others. Raised in a Christian household, his parents instilled in him the values of faith, kindness, and integrity from an early age, shaping the foundation of his ministry and community work. Pastor Derrick’s dedication to prayer and compassion is evident in his approach to leadership, as he continually seeks to uplift and support those around him, whether through his pastoral care, union advocacy, or community service initiatives. His steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and dedication to serving others continue to inspire and transform lives.
